BIHAR FLOOD REPORT

Report of “Minnatullah Rahmani” visited the worst flood effected of SUPAUL district of BIHAR .

Bihar is facing its worst ever disaster in recent times and the koshi floods (river of sorrow) has ravaged the lives of millions (almost 50 lakh
people) in the state. It's impossible to even estimate the magnitude of the
damage caused, lives that has been lost in the last few days as millions are
stranded in marooned areas where no relief effort has reached.
Folks who have been carrying out rescue operations in the state have been in
touch and the situation on ground is really heart wrenching.

When I reached to Supaul District (most affected district of Bihar) on 15th of September 2008, more than 35 volunteers of RAHBAR and Welfare Helpline Society were ready to move with me.
At first we went to Williams High School Camp. There was more than 600 victims in that camp. We met to Principal of Williams High School, Mr. Maheshwari Prasad Yadav, he told us Administration has hand over the camp to williams School. Before it was under the Steel Authority of India (SAIL). We went to take the permission for relief activty from Supaul DM.Mr. Sarvan Kumar with NCC officer of Bihar Battalion. DM.Mr. Sarvan Kumar permitted us to help the victim of Williams School for following relief activites (Letter enclosed):

• Supplementary health services
• IFTAR/SEHRI for Muslim Community
• Focus on education
• Clothes distribution

Apart from above DM specially suggested us to make the camp very clean every day.
We started our activities from the same day.
There we met some people they all were local people some of them were politicians, social workers and government employees who wanted to help people by helping us.
